Reading Evaluation

Reading Evaluation
Reading Evaluation offers a clear, detailed picture of where a learner stands and what needs to happen next. Instead of guessing which program or level might fit, we use structured assessment to pinpoint strengths, sticking points, and specific literacy gaps.

During the evaluation, we examine key areas of reading: letter-sound knowledge, decoding, sight recognition, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Tools may include graded word lists, leveled passages, timed readings, and targeted questions about meaning. For younger readers, we also observe phonemic awareness tasks, such as blending and segmenting sounds.

As a licensed Intervention Specialist with extensive training in literacy assessment, our lead evaluator interprets the data through both a clinical and practical lens. We look beyond a single score to patterns in errors, behaviors during reading, and stamina across tasks, all of which inform effective intervention.

Families receive a plain-language summary that explains the student's approximate reading level, specific skill gaps, and recommended next steps. We outline priorities for instruction, ideas for school collaboration, and suggestions for home practice, so everyone is working from the same roadmap.

This evaluation can serve as the starting point for targeted reading intervention with us or as valuable documentation for school teams and other providers. Most importantly, it replaces worry and guesswork with clarity and a workable plan for moving forward.
