Math Diagnostics

Math Diagnostics
Math Diagnostics provides a clear snapshot of a learner's current understanding of numbers and operations, making it easier to focus instruction where it counts most. Instead of repeating the same worksheets and hoping for improvement, we identify exactly which concepts are secure, shaky, or missing.

During the assessment, we explore number sense, place value, basic facts, and operations with whole numbers, and-when appropriate-fractions and decimals. Tasks may include mental math, written computation, word problems, and visual models. We pay close attention to how students approach problems, not just whether they get them right.

This process reveals patterns: Are errors mostly about place value? Do facts fall apart when problems are mixed? Is the student guessing at word problems because the language is confusing, or because the underlying math is not yet solid? These insights guide more efficient and less frustrating intervention.

Families receive a clear summary outlining current performance, specific gaps, and suggested priorities for instruction. We include examples of the types of problems that are challenging, along with recommendations for strategies, tools, and supports that can be used at home and discussed with school teams.

Math Diagnostics can stand alone as an information-gathering step or feed directly into ongoing math support with us. Either way, it turns vague concerns-"Math just isn't clicking"-into a targeted action plan that respects the learner's pace and potential.
