Educational Experience and Leadership

Althea brings extensive experience in assessment, Individualized Education Program (IEP) development and implementation, alternative behavior strategies, data input, instructional technology, team collaboration, supervision, and guidance. Her professional work includes the use of educational software and digital tools such as the Internet, email, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.

As a former employee of Columbus City Schools, she served as an Intervention Specialist and Specific Learning Disabilities Tutor. In that role, she contributed to the overall school program by developing and implementing several initiatives that supported students, families, classrooms, and the broader school community.


Community Service and Program Development

Althea has served in mission and community-based work for more than 12 years, including short-term summer mission projects on Native American Indian reservations. She also served as a volunteer with International Fellowship of Faith Ministries Church (IFFM), which hosts representatives from more than 30 countries each year through ministry efforts focused on preaching, teaching, and healing.

Through collaboration with Catholic Social Services, she introduced a Foster Grandparent Program and supervised six foster grandparents who helped support classroom learning while reducing behavior challenges. She also developed Parent Appreciation Day to honor parents and created opportunities for students to showcase their gifts and talents through creative expression.


Service Learning Initiatives

• A shoe collection initiative in collaboration with Faith Ministries Church to benefit children and families in Sierra Leone, West Africa

• A community garden that benefited local families

• A blanket project that benefited Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s Ronald McDonald House


Work Experience

Althea recently served as a first-grade Intervention Specialist at an online school and currently tutors K–12 students with special learning needs. She has more than five years of experience working with various online schools and more than seven years of experience in traditional school settings. Her roles have included Specific Learning Disabilities Tutor, Resource Room Teacher, and Lead Senior Class Teacher in a county board school. She has also collaborated and co-taught with a fifth-grade teacher, applying skills gained through behavior analysis training to support social skills development and small-group learning experiences.
